A Cosy Evening in Birmingham: Thursday Fireside Social at Clover (2026)
16 October 2026
Looking for a cosy evening in Birmingham now the nights are drawing in? Every Thursday from 6pm to 9pm, Clover Wellness Birmingham holds a fireside social in its garden retreat: the log fire lit, music on, good conversation and a few games, on top of a normal spa evening, with no additional fee. This guide explains how the Thursday fireside social works, what a cosy spa evening at Clover looks like and how to join in.

The Thursday fireside social at a glance
- When: every Thursday, 6pm to 9pm
- Where: the garden retreat at Clover, 759 Chester Road, Erdington, Birmingham B24 0BY
- What happens: a log fire, music, chat and games
- Cost: no additional fee on top of your spa visit
- Spa evening: day spa use starts from £25 per person, and Clover is open until 10pm
What is the garden retreat?
At the far end of Clover’s garden sits the garden retreat, a timber cabin built around a central wood fire, with benches, cushions and soft throws all around. On a cold evening, it’s the warmest, cosiest spot at Clover, and on Thursdays it becomes the heart of the fireside social.

A cosy Thursday evening, step by step
- 6pm: Arrive after work and check in.
- 6.15pm: Warm through in the steam room, then a round in the sauna.
- 6.45pm: Cool off in the night air or the plunge pool.
- 7pm: Grab a drink from the café bar and head to the garden retreat for the fire, music and a game or two.
- 8pm: A soak in the hot tub under the evening sky.
- 8.30pm: Back to the fire to finish the evening.
- Until 10pm: The spa stays open, so there’s time for a last round of heat before home.
Why the fireside social is worth trying
- It’s cosy. A real fire on a cold night is hard to beat.
- It’s sociable without pressure. Join the conversation or simply sit and watch the flames.
- It’s something extra. The fire, music and games come on top of a normal spa evening, at no additional fee.
- It breaks up the week. Thursday is the perfect night to unwind before the weekend.
- It’s easy on your own. Sitting around a fire is one of the most natural ways to fall into conversation.
Things to do in Birmingham on a Thursday night
If you’re tired of the usual Thursday options, a spa evening by the fire makes a lovely change from a bar or a restaurant. It works for a date, a catch-up with a friend or a quiet evening on your own. If you’re looking for date ideas, see our guide to date ideas in Birmingham, or read more about an evening spa in Birmingham.
A different night every week
The fireside social is one of several regular evenings at Clover:

- Tuesday: a women-only spa session, 10am to 2pm, £35.
- Wednesday: a men-only spa night, 6pm to 10pm, £25.
- Thursday: the fireside social, 6pm to 9pm.
Add a massage
Make your Thursday even more relaxing with a treatment. Clover offers over 15 massages, including a hot stone massage and a 30-minute Indian head massage, plus facials. Book ahead, especially for evening appointments.
A European-style spa
Clover is a European-style spa, so the sauna and steam room are used without swimwear, sitting on a towel, as they are across much of Europe. Outside the heat rooms, you’re welcome to wear a robe or keep a towel on for as long as you like, including by the fire. It’s friendly, respectful and non-sexual. If it’s new to you, read European-style spas explained or book a free tour to see it first, fully clothed.
What to bring
Towels are provided and there are lockers for your things. Bring a robe and flip-flops if you have them, or hire a robe and buy flip-flops on the day. A robe is especially welcome for walking down the garden to the fire on a cold night. If it’s your first visit and you booked online, bring photo ID and the card you paid with.
Getting here
Clover is at 759 Chester Road, Erdington, Birmingham B24 0BY, about 500 metres from Chester Road station on the Cross-City line, so you can come straight from the city centre after work and leave the car at home. It’s also a short drive from Sutton Coldfield and Walsall.
