Spa Day on Your Own in Birmingham: A Calm Guide to Going Solo
17 October 2026
Thinking about a spa day on your own in Birmingham, but not sure whether it will feel odd to go alone? It won’t. Going to a spa by yourself is completely normal, whether it’s a quiet day off, a reset after a busy week or simply time with no one else to plan around. This guide explains what a solo spa day at Clover Wellness Birmingham looks like, the best days to go alone and how to make the most of it.

A solo spa day at a glance
- Where: Clover, 759 Chester Road, Erdington, Birmingham B24 0BY
- Full day spa use: £35 per person, and you can stay as long as you like
- Evening spa use (6pm to 10pm): £25 per person
- New to Clover? The Feel Better Than Ever Spa Day is £75 Monday to Thursday and £105 Friday to Sunday
- Opening hours: Monday to Friday 10am to 10pm; Saturday and Sunday 12 noon to 10pm
Is it strange to go to a spa alone?
Not at all. A spa is one of the easiest places to spend time on your own. Nobody expects you to talk, you can move at your own pace, and there’s always somewhere to sit quietly with a drink or a book.
Going alone also means you choose everything: when you arrive, how long you stay in the sauna, whether you have a massage and when you head home. There’s no one to wait for and no one to keep entertained.
What you can do on your own at Clover
- Heat: the sauna and steam room
- Water: the large hot tub, a small cool plunge pool and a foot spa
- Rest: heated stone loungers and quiet corners indoors
- Outside: the gardens and the garden retreat with its wood fire
- Food and drink: the licensed café bar, serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, supper, snacks and drinks
Towels and a locker are included. There’s no swimming pool: the water areas are the hot tub and the cool plunge.

The best days for a spa day on your own
Any day works, but some days suit solo guests especially well:
- Monday evening: the Monday Night Sauna Club, 6pm to 10pm, £15. It’s relaxed and sociable, so it’s easy to fall into conversation if you’d like to.
- Tuesday morning: the women-only spa session, 10am to 2pm, £35.
- Wednesday evening: the men-only spa night, 6pm to 10pm, £25.
- Thursday evening: the fireside social in the garden retreat, 6pm to 9pm, with a log fire, music, chat and games at no additional fee on top of a spa visit.
If you’d rather keep yourself to yourself, ask the team when you book which times are usually calmest. Clover takes bookings and walk-ins, so numbers vary, but even on busy days there’s usually space in the sauna, steam room, hot tub, café bar and garden.
A simple plan for a day on your own
- Arrive and settle in: check in, pick up your towel and leave your things in your locker.
- Warm up: start gently in the steam room, then try the sauna.
- Cool down: a quick dip in the cool plunge or a few minutes in the garden air.
- Rest: lie back on a heated lounger and let your mind wander.
- Lunch: something from the café bar, eaten slowly with nowhere to be.
- Treat yourself: book a massage for the afternoon (see below).
- Finish outside: a soak in the hot tub or time by the fire before you head home.
Add a massage
A treatment is a lovely way to round off a day to yourself. Clover has two private treatment rooms, one guest at a time, with female therapists every day and male therapists for pre-booked treatments. Popular choices include the 60-minute Clover Top to Toe massage (£69), a hot stone massage from £60, a 30-minute Indian head massage (£49) and facials from £45. A treatment on its own doesn’t include spa use, so book it alongside your spa visit. See all treatments in massage in Erdington.
Feeling nervous about going alone?
That’s completely normal, and there are two easy ways to take the pressure off:
- Book a free tour first. A coffee, a chat and a relaxed look around, fully clothed and with no spa use. Book a free tour.
- Choose the Feel Better Than Ever Spa Day. Made for new customers, it includes a guided tour, full spa use, a 20-minute taster treatment, a complimentary tea or coffee, a £10 café allowance and a £20 voucher for your next visit.
A European-style spa
Clover is a European-style spa, so the sauna and steam room are used without swimwear, sitting on a towel, as they are across much of Europe. Outside the heat rooms, you’re welcome to keep a robe or towel on, and many new guests do. It’s friendly, respectful and non-sexual. If it’s new to you, read European-style spas explained or what to expect on your first visit.
What to bring
Towels are provided and you’ll have a locker. Bring a robe and flip-flops if you have them, or hire a robe for £2 and buy flip-flops for £3 on the day. A book is a good idea too. Clover works best as a digital detox: if you do use your phone, the camera lens must be covered with a Clover sticker, which is provided. If it’s your first visit and you booked online, bring the card you paid with.
Getting here
Clover is about a 500 to 600 metre walk from Chester Road station on the Cross-City line from Birmingham New Street, and several buses run from the city centre to the Birmingham Road / Chester Road junction, about 300 metres away. By car, it’s about 2 miles from junctions 5 or 6 of the M6.
Spa day on your own: your questions
Can I book a spa day for one person?
Yes. Full day spa use is £35 per person and evening spa use is £25. You can book online or call 07973 379166.
Will I feel out of place on my own?
Very unlikely. The atmosphere at Clover is calm and friendly. Chat if you want to, or keep to yourself: both are completely normal.
How long should I stay?
With full day spa use you can stay as long as you like. Give yourself enough time for a few rounds of heat, a rest, something to eat and a soak, so the day never feels rushed.
What’s the most relaxing time to go?
Numbers vary because Clover takes walk-ins as well as bookings, so ask the team for a quieter time when you book. If you’d enjoy a bit of company, try the Monday Night Sauna Club or the Thursday fireside social.
